The SRU National League is back after the Chinese new year break with the news of the Premiership Finals to be played at the National Stadium as the curtain raiser game to the Sunwolves v Bulls Super Rugby match on 4th March. The stakes are higher for the Premiership clubs now as teams aim to set foot on the very same ground as their Super Rugby stars.

In the Premiership played at the Yio Chu Kang stadium, Bedok Kings faced the runner-up of last year’s season, SCC. The last time the two teams met, the game ended with a one sided score of 58-0 to SCC. The wet weather did not seem to dampen the spirit of both teams as they started the game strongly. After missed penalties from both sides, the first point of the game went to SCC only at the 27th minute from a penalty kick. At half-time, the score stood at just 11-0, to SCC. Forward, James Morgan scored the only try for Bedok Kings in the second-half. Though the Kings suffered yet another loss, but kudos to them for putting up a good fight with the final score, 7-18 to SCC. Congratulations to SCC!

The second half of the SRU National Women’s League got under way with Skyllas 2 taking on Bucks. Still looking for their first win of the season, the girls from Skyllas 2 was ready to put up a fight. However, their lack of discipline gave away several penalties and ball possession was scarce. Bucks took advantage of that and put themselves on the scoreboard seven minutes after kick-off.  After the restart, the table turned with Bucks giving away penalties and giving Skyllas 2 a chance to strike back and for once in the league, were leading in a match. Bucks were relentless in their attack but were matched by the unwavering young Skyllas team. Finally, the resilience of Skyllas 2 paid off as they were rewarded with their first win of the season. The final score was 19-10.
